When you place an order on this site, the items in your order are first stored in a cookie file generated by your browser (Netscape, Internet Explorer or whatever browser you use). To place an order on this site, your browser must therefore be set to accept cookies. If you prefer not to leave the cookie feature turned on, you may either:
As you browse through our online catalog, information on the various items you order is stored in your cookie file. When you are ready to finalize your order, that information is sent to our secure server. This information, which includes only a description of the items you order, is not used for any other purpose. The alternative to using your browser's cookie file is to require you to have a user ID and password. We feel you probably have enough passwords to keep track of without having yet another one just to order on this site. Unlike some sites that use an outside secure server, your order does not go
to an outside server but remains on our own Rural Heritage secure server, where
your credit card number and other personal data are completely protected by the
latest encryption technology. You can tell you have entered the secure server
because the URL (website address) displayed in your browser's Location or
Address field (just above this window) changes from http to https. The displayed
URL tells you the secure server is on ruralheritage.com. Our secure server is certified by Thawte and is updated annually. When you enter our secure server, the little open padlock at the bottom left corner of your browser changes to locked position. To review our digital certificate, click on the locked padlock. When the Security Information page appears, click on the "View Certificate" button. You don't have to remember all this—just remember to click on the locked padlock and the rest is self-explanatory. Unlike some sites that store your address and credit card information, we delete this information from our secure server after your order has been processed. We never share your address with any other business. Ordering by Snail Mail, Phone or FaxIf you prefer not to order online, you may still generate an order form by going through the entire online order process short of submitting payment. After filling in your address, click on "send to secure server" to obtain a printable form with the shipping charge calculated for you. At that point, your order has not yet been recorded on the secure server. Instead of clicking on the "send secure payment" button, print your order instead. When you log off, no record of your order will be left behind. If you prefer, you may write your order on plain paper, taking care to include the title, order number, and price of each item, as well as the appropriate shipping charge. Be sure to include your full mailing address, phone number, and email address in case we need to get in touch with you about your order. Please allow 5 days for your order to reach us. If you pay by credit card, you may speed up your order by phoning toll-free 877-647-2452 or faxing your order to 319-362-3046.
