Hello every one my name is Taylor Johnson and I was wondering about logging oppertunities in the Black Hills or possibly in WY. Looking to possibly relocate and wonderd what or if there were any opertunities to be had out there for a horse logger. Right now I live in North West WI and like it fine but would not mind giving it a try out west. Have also considerd Southern MN , have worked there a bit and liked it ok but there are a lot of people there for my tast. I really injoy all of the info on the site and I thank my responders in advance. Taylor Johnson

You're working and living in God's country already. Why would you want to move? More tall forests where you are than the other two spots, I'd guess.

I haven't seen a lot of demand for it here. I logged a small patch for someone last year and they were happy with it, but most of the neighboring people are letting a bigger outfit log them off. The beetle kill here in the SW corner of Wy is real bad now and people want the timber cleared off fast to hold down the fire hazzard.
I do think you could hustle up some business here, I don't have the time with the ranch to run.

This is great country up here but I like to travel and would not mind living there or working there for a wile but if I can not go there then I will wake up happy right were I am at, not unsatisfied just a bit of a traveler. Jason I sent you an E mail so thanks for the info in advance. Taylor Johnson

Just take off and look things over for yourself. If is a terrible thing to wake up in the middle of night and think "what if". A new view is good for a person.
Lots better to be a has been than a never was.

Roy Pilcher from Devil's Tower. Great link with good photos of working in the Black Hill's ponderosa pine forest cover type.
