Ox Dump Cart and Mower Need
Posted by Kirk Stanley at 2008-08-18 06:45:34
Greetings,
I am looking for an ox cart, preferably with a dump body. I have Googled, searched all the classifieds, etc. but can't seem to find any for sale. Does anyone know where I might find one? Is anyone still building them?

Oops. Got sent by accident. To finish, I live in Maine and can travel within New England to get it.
Also, I hate to run a bush hog just to get rid of the few weeds here and there after grazing. Has anyone seen some type of mower that would work for this?

Two dump carts (both original Studebakers)sold at auction in Roswell, NM back in June. One was in workable shape the other wasn't. Made a bid on the good one and didn't get it. None of the locals recognized the buyer. As for purchasing a new one, you could ask David Engle (wheel wright and wagon builder)in Montana. Don't have his url handy so just put in an internet search. As for a mower, keep checking the Rural Heritage swap meet site (or even place your own want ad).

G'day Kirk, The ATNESA website has got plans for the "golovan" tip cart that you can make yourself or get a tradesman to make for you if needs be.Their design has shafts for a single ox but I just put a single pole when I built mine.It work's reasonably well as a direct drop manure spreader(tie a piece of wire on to stop the door opening too wide)but doesn't tip firewood or weeds for the compost heap as well as the more traditional design. It is as light as a feather though and pulls really well.

Check with Tim Huppe at Berrybrook Ox Supply. If anyone in your area knows of anything, it'll be him.
