I have been on the front porch for several years now. There have been spans of regularity and times of once in a while. I've seen many new names come aboard and some old ones leave. I have personally met some of the people here, not many, but a few. The ones I have met, I have put into two categories. The "doers" and the "dreamers".
When I first posted, I was running a 300 acre dairy farm, milking 65 cows, and taking care of about the same amount of young stock. I had just bought an older team of belgian mares and wanted to know how to incorperate them into my daily routine of farm work.
I was answered by JW who in turn told me to contact JL. So I sent out a bulletin in hopes to get JL's attention. Well, he responded and that kicked off I don't know how many years of emailing back and forth. JL will have to refresh my memory as to how many years. There was a couple of years where we didn't miss a beat of writing to each other daily. Kind of pushing each other to use the horses more and the tractor less. I think I can speak for the both of us by saying we are both closer to where we want to be than we were, but not there yet.
It's to bad this website doesn't have more "doers" and less "dreamers". By the way, which category do you fit in???

Years pass faster than I can keep track but Tiff and I have communicated regularly and helped keep each other on track for at least 5 yrs now.I do know that using these horses every day and having them in shape for work is rewarding for me.It is amazing what they can do.I mowed 4 acres of 2nd cutting the other day.Stopped them once to see if they were puffing. They were not and on we went to finish the 4 acres. When I finished they knew we were done and wanted to trot back to the barn.I felt that they were tough and healthy and happy.I know I was impressed.
