politics

there sure has been alot of posts recently about the current situation with american politics-- on one hand i dont want to read it here-- on the other hand it gives me some ammo with a different slant to deliver when i need the fire power- so i guess-- keep it coming. but its sure not what i came here for originally-- but i do need a different view point now and then-- thanks to all who are participating-

realize that we do need several parties to keep things in balance-- tho i do wish that more of our politicians were statesmen instead-- when barry goldwater was running- i wasnt infavor of what he was promoting- now i think he may have been the last true statesman we have had- and before that harry truman-- he was an old line conservative democrat--

im concerned about the direction that washington is taking.

In these times when gov. seems bent on controlling every aspect of life it's very difficult to avoid politics.

It seems that just about everyone has to become some sort of advocate to preserve a way of life they once thought would always be there.

It would be great if we could just devote the time we spend on preserving a way of life rather than politics.

These post are good to let me know I am not alone.

chuck-don't worry. Porch Monkeys can expound on any subject.

This past fall, a group here in MN spent part of one afternoon discussing the pros and cons of boxers vs BVD's.

Politics, religion, underwear, preferences regarding beer, fire wood and breeds of horses are all covered.

No one is forced to read anything here. I tend to skip a lot of the BS posts, you can too.

Again a vote for no ploitics. Why not talk about draft animals? I hope that EVERYTHING is not related to politics. If so, then I am officially not interestd in anything.

Don't know bout where ya'll are from, but round here ol' farmers have been talkin bout politics the weather and the cost of farming since time began.

Well then, that leaves space aliens. I mean I know
whats going on, I watch the x files!

Like I tell others. I believe in obama. I believe because sometimes when someone relly believes and wishes for something it happens. Not believing I find the world very depressing and dont wanna go there.
...and

I am pretty sure Obama is NOT a space alien (like bush or pretty face.. er whats is name) cuz he...
well...
just look at em.

Now I will go put my blinders back on and bury my head for a while.

Ever thing we do in life is related to politics.

It is true that weather, politics and local scandals have always been a topic for farmers.

Thank God we live in a place we can disagree in public.

Unless you are the one counting the ballots, are you sure the count is correct?

This is what the paragraph introducing the "Front Porch" on this web-site states:
Won't you spend few moments visiting our teamster and drover forum here on the front porch? Ask a draft animal related question, answer one someone has asked, or impart some bit of wisdom you'd like to share about working draft animals.
Response by jwaller at 2009-07-03 11:42:13
There should be some variety in conversations. Only talking about draft animals could become boring. I'm sorry, but pharmacists don't only talk about medication, teachers about kids, farmers about farming, cops about crime, etc. when those folk get together.
Response by Virginia Gal at 2009-07-03 12:45:55
Those are guidelines, MD, and come after the words "Front Porch", which implies more. I have sat on many a physical front porch and the conversation never ever sticks to just one subject. I'd rather click over topics in which I have no interest, than refuse to let the thread wonder where it may. It'll come back around, always does.
Response by jwaller at 2009-07-04 02:25:55
Believe it or not, I've had conversations in the past week about Michael Jackson, Farrah Farcet and Gale Storm (My Little Margie) and Karl Maldin dying that were just as interesting as draft talk.
Response by JWM at 2009-07-05 06:45:09
it is the fact that so many people don't see issues like global warming and taxes as relevant to them in agriculture (and other walks of life) that is part of the apathy that is going to be a rude awakening for many.

I see another of my posts noting the overbearing censorship here got canceled. What a surprise. No one forces anyone here to read anything. If you don't want to read political posts, don't.

Post a Response:
1) Enter your name and response.
2) Click "Send" to post your response on the Front Porch bulletin board.
3) Your response will be reviewed for appropriateness before being posted for public view.
