J.P. Brendemuehl, DVM, PhD

Dr. Jim Brendemuehl graduated from the University of Florida Veterinary School in 1980, then spent more than ten years in private equine practice and as resident veterinarian on a major breeding farm in Florida and Kentucky. He returned to the world of academia to earn a PhD in reproductive physiology and become board certified by the American College of Therogenologists, the veterinary counterpart of human Obstetrics and Gynecology. He currently serves as an equine veterinarian at the University of Illinois Veterinary Teaching Hospital in Urbana. His research interests include:

  • fescue toxicity of all species and the mare in particular

  • assisted reproductive techniques

  • infectious infertility

  • manipulation of the estrous cycle

  • reproductive toxicology.
