Overview
- Source of power: Solar, wind, human, horse, and tractor.
- Horses are used to: logging and riding.
- Acreage: 250; 15 in crops and pasture, remainder in mature Acadian forest (pine, hemlock, spruce, oak, ash, maple, birch).
- Other livestock: chickens, bees.
- Skills offered in: forest meditation, gardening, permaculture, wetland restoration, forest ecology, forestry, logging, sawmilling, woodworking, seasonal cooking — all within the context of a contemplative and meditative environment.
- Work hours: 20-40 hrs/wk, depending on the program.
- Terms: several different residential programs, detailed descriptions available on request.
- Stipend: varies, depending on program.
- Accommodations: forest cabins with kitchen facilities.
- Apprentice must: have a genuine interest in meditation practice, make a long-term commitment to natural landscape restoration and sustainable society; have curiosity, love of the forest, and a passion for learning through doing.
